TRIBUTES have been paid to a teenager from Quinton who was stabbed to death in a Harborne street.

Ras Jordan Moazami – known as Jordan – died in Tennal Road on Wednesday evening, aged just 18.

The amateur boxer was reportedly knifed in the neck in an alleyway after an argument escalated into a street fight, near Harborne Golf Club.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Bartley Green Boxing Club, for whom Jordan competed, led the tributes to the teenager on Facebook.

They posted: “RIP Jordan Moazami. Gone but never forgotten. You deserved so much more in your life.

“You will always be remembered, our deepest sympathies are with your family and friends.

“Another talented young life taken by the so-called tough men that carry knives.

“Anyone carrying a knife deserves five years minimum in prison, if you use a knife then you deserve life without freedom.”

Ben McBain added: “RIP man, such a humble guy, don’t deserve this. Rest easy,” while Joshua Clarke wrote: “Can’t believe that such a good kid has been taken from us, always full of good energy.”

Jordan was a former youth player with Continental Star Football Club where he also acted as a mentor to younger people.

Inspector Lee Trinder, of West Midlands Police, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of this young man at this awful time.

"People can be assured that West Midlands Police's dedicated homicide team is working to establish exactly what has happened.

"Meanwhile, we will have extra uniformed officers on reassurance patrols, and I'd encourage anyone with particular concerns to stop and speak to them."

Detective Inspector Michelle Allen, from the force’s homicide team, added: "A young man has sadly lost his life and we are keen to hear from anybody with information which can assist our enquiries."
