THREE Stourbridge friends will be running the London Marathon this week to raise money for Compton Care.

Matt Hunter, Paul Pardoe and Dave Miles will be taking on the 26.2-mile road race on Sunday April 28.

They have so far managed to raise nearly £4,000 for the charity - and anyone wishing to give their sponsorship a boost can do so online at www.justgiving.com/rundmp.

Recruitment consultant Matt, aged 34, has been running for about five years since completing the Birmingham half marathon and catching the running bug.

It will be his second time running the London Marathon, having previously completed the course in 2016 when he raised more than £2,000 for Crohns and Colitis UK.

Paul and Dave, both aged 26, have been running for a couple of years as a means of keeping fit.

They have completed several 10K races and half marathons but decided last year to take the plunge and go for the full 26.2miles.

Dave said: "We've been training together four times a week since Christmas and have each covered over 700km in that time.

"We have also managed to raise almost £4,000 for Compton Hospice who provide invaluable services for people living all over the West Midlands, affecting the lives of local people for the better."
