MANAGEMENT of a Bewdley takeaway was told to ensure staff were “fully trained to wash their hands regularly and thoroughly” after a hygiene inspection.

Bella Pizza, in Load Street, received a food hygiene rating of ‘one’ following an inspection by Worcestershire Regulatory Services on March 25.

According to the report, the pizza and kebab takeaway had not registered as a food business under its new owner, but the takeaway has since been registered.

The report said the businesses needed to “ensure that all food handlers wore clean, protective clothing” and said all “none food handling staff should not be in the food handling area unless they have protective clothing on and have washed their hands".

The inspector also said that, although there was information about allergens on the menus, this was completed by the previous owner and needed to be updated and checked again for accuracy.

Diary sheets had also not been completed since the last operator left.

The manager of Bella Pizza, Mr Ghattan, said: “We have nothing to hide. We make our food in front of the customers - everybody can see what we are preparing.

“The staff have been trained on a hygiene course since the inspection and we are now registered as a food business.

“Nobody’s perfect but we are now on top of it.

“Everything will be ready to go again, we are happy for the inspectors to come back in the future.”
