HUNDREDS of people attended Morton Funeral Directors 'Tree of Light' service to raise money for charity.

More than 800 people attended the service at the beginning of December at their head office on Bristol Road South, Northfield.

Currently £1211 has been raised and will be split between the Salvation Army and Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice.

The occasion gave people the opportunity to remember loved ones they have lost.

Sarah Case, managing director at Mortons, which has offices in Rubery, Northfield and Cotteridge, said each year the ceremony is poignant in allowing time for reflection about loved ones no longer with us.

She said: “The service and the stars on the tree are about remembering and sharing special memories with others, but we also know that people often like to make a donation to one or both of our charities, in recognition of their invaluable work.

“I am humbled by the huge generosity of those who support the Tree of Light, and we offer our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped make this year’s service so powerful and memorable.”
