A DELI for pets is set to get tails wagging at its official opening in Kidderminster on Wednesday.

Pippa's Pet Deli, described by owner Gail Hambrey as a sweet shop for pets, will open its doors to customers and their four-legged friends in Audley Drive at 9am on December 5.

The business sells natural dog and cat foods, all handmade on site, including raw, cooked and wheat-free products, as well as dried snacks and treats.

Gail, 52, from Kidderminster, said: "All of our products are handmade and everything is 100 per cent natural. So instead of additives like calcium tablets I use crushed eggshells.

"I've always made my own dog treats and decided in May to sell some at a car boot sale and it was a huge success.

"I started my internet shop and have been hosting stalls at markets in Stourbridge and Ludlow.

"I've had such a positive response. Some people are a bit apprehensive at first and think their dog is too fussy but as soon as they try it, they always come back."

The deli, which is named after Gail's pet chihuahua/bichon frise cross Pippa, will be set out like a traditional sweet shop, with treats displayed in glass jars.

The store will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 9am to 5pm, Thursdays from 4pm to 8pm, Fridays from 9am to 6pm and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.

There will be free taster sessions for pets at the launch, plus tea and coffee for owners.
