A BRIERLEY Hill woman has been warned she could face time behind bars after fiddling around £70,000 from the supermarket where she was employed.

Susan Walker, aged 64, of Hern Road pleaded guilty to falsifying refund records at Asda stores between January 28 2014 and February 16 2016.

Judge James Burbidge QC remanded her on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report he said was essential before the case against her could be concluded.

But he warned her: "The fact that I have allowed you bail should not put in your mind the thought that you will avoid custody. That is a real prospect in this case."

Patrick Sullivan, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court that a "conservative" figure for the amount of money involved in the case was about £72,700.

He said that figure, which only included cash refunds, was based on the money records at her till over the two year period compared to those of a colleague who had worked longer hours in the store.
