CARDS for good causes at the Heritage Centre in Ledbury is very much a charitable local festive tradition, but the final countdown is now on for the end of another year, and with it comes a sale.
A spokesman said: “Many items of new merchandise have been reduced in price, and there are fun gifts and stocking fillers, calendars, gift bags and wrapping paper. “
The last day is December 11.
Goods at the shop, in Church Lane, are sold for at least 25 local charities and good causes, including Fight for Sight; Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Motor Neurone Disease and St Michael’s Hospice.
In 1959, Cards for Good Causes was the brainchild of James Jackson, who gathered together a group of medical charities to discuss the coordination of publicity for selling charity cards from empty shops in town centres.
