A MANHUNT is underway after Tesco staff were threatened with weapons in an armed robbery.

It happened around 9.50pm on Saturday, November 24 at the Tesco Express on Old Birmingham Road.

Two men are reported to have entered the premises and threatened staff with weapons before demanding money from the tills.

A quantity of cash was stolen.

The two men are then understood to have left the area on foot in the direction of Rednal.

The first man is described as being between 45 and 50 years old, around 6ft tall, with short brown hair and wearing a dark coloured top. 

The second man was thought to be in his 30s, also around 6ft tall, and wearing a blue coloured top and jeans.

Detective Constable Jemma Greenow said: "This was obviously a frightening incident for the members of staff.

"We would like to reassure the community that a thorough investigation is ongoing and we are extremely keen to trace the offenders.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity in the area or who has information that could help us.

"Any information, no matter how small, could assist with our investigation."
