RESIDENTS in Wolverley turned out to share their views on the county's rural roads network as part of a new campaign to improve driver safety.

More than 30 people attended the drop-in event at St John the Baptist Church hall on Monday (November 19), marking the official launch of Roads Focus, a joint campaign from Worcestershire County Council and West Mercia's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) John Campion.

Roads Focus aims to give residents an opportunity to share their views on Worcestershire's roads, while also educating motorists on the dangers of distracted driving.

The campaign is focusing on the county's rural roads network, with Wolverley chosen as one of five villages to host an event during Road Safety Week.

PCC Mr Campion said: "I was really pleased to see so many people drop in at the first Roads Focus event in Wolverley as part of our joint campaign with Worcestershire County Council.

“We wanted to provide residents the opportunity to come and talk to us in an open and honest forum. If we don’t hear what, or where, people’s concerns are then we can’t address them."

Robin Drew, chairman of Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council, added: "It's great that Worcestershire County Council and the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner chose to bring the Roads Focus campaign here to Wolverley.

"It's clear that our residents are passionate about making our local roads safer for everyone, and we thank everybody who came along to the event to have their say."
