A WILL-making campaign week led by a Kidderminster charity has raised thousands of pounds with help from local solicitors.

Wyre Forest charity Kemp Hospice have praised community-minded solicitors and residents for their support in this year's Make a Will Week, which raised almost £7,000.

The hospice teamed up with solicitors in May for the annual event which allows Wyre Forest residents to update or write their Wills in return for a donation to Kemp.

The legal firms involved included mfg Solicitors LLP, Norris and Miles Solicitors, Painters Solicitors, Talbots Law, Thursfields Solicitors, Westons Wills and Probate and Wright Solicitors incorporating Marion Evans, each giving up their time and expertise for free to help with the campaign.

Head of Fundraising at Kemp, Cathy Sloan said: “At Kemp Hospice we understand the importance of preparing for the future and ensuring that our families, loved ones and causes close to our hearts, benefit after our death.

"Making a Will is such an important thing to do and it’s incredible to believe that one in three people die without making one.

"Every year we do our ‘Make A Will Week’ I’m humbled by the support we get from local solicitors. They give up their time, their knowledge, their expertise for free to help so many people with Will writing, and in return those people make a donation to Kemp.

"This year the five-day event raised almost £8,000 including Gift Aid, which is amazing.

"Every penny raised will go towards running Kemp Hospice, helping us to care and support for even more people who desperately need the help we can provide.

"The legal professionals who helped this year and the people who took part should feel very proud that they are making a real difference to people’s lives.”
