POLICE and paramedics swept into the Homend on Monday afternoon.

(October 1), following reports of a street fight and someone being stabbed with a pair of scissors.

The air ambulance from Strensham landed on the Recreation Ground, ready to take anyone seriously wounded to hospital.

The Ledbury Reporter understands that three people were involved in an altercation, two men and a woman, and the two men were local.

Police say the woman came from Warwick.

Injuries were reported to be minor, but scissors were recovered by police from the scene.

A witness to the immediate aftermath of the fight, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was extremely scary and frightening for the shop keepers in the Homend.

"You expect this sort of thing in London, but not in little old Ledbury. But the cops and the ambulance all arrived in short succession; so they responded quickly."

Police records show the incident took place between 2.05pm and 2.20pm on Monday.

Police responded to a report of "a man attacked with a pair of scissors".

A man in his 40s suffered facial injuries, but refused treatment from paramedics at the scene.

Another man, also believed to be in his 40s, suffered minor injuries and was discharged by paramedics at the scene, after treatment.

No-one was taken to hospital and the Air Ambulance on the Recreation Ground was not required.

Police arrested a 44 year old man "on suspicion of assault, causing grievous bodily harm".

He has been bailed to the end of October, while enquiries continue.

A 36 year old woman from Warwick was also arrested "on suspicion of assault, causing actual bodily harm".

She has also been bailed to the end of October.

The Reporter understands that two police cars attended in the incident in the Homend, and one ambulance.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information should phone the 101 number and quote the police reference number of 367 for October 1.
