STEAM enthusiasts braved the rain as they lined platforms to see legendary locomotives at the Severn Valley Railway Autumn Gala.
The four-day flagship Gala from Sunday September 20 to 23 saw more than 6,300 people visit the historical railway, which featured an all-night timetable and engines with royal connections.
Popular regal steamers at the event included the LMS Princess Coronation No. 6233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland,’ the world-famous locomotive No. 46100 ‘Royal Scot,’ as well as the No. 70000 ‘Britannia.’
Locomotive fans were also given the chance to experience the sights and sounds of the railway at night during Friday and Saturday's all-night timetable.
Railway book author Chris Vine also visited the event, and carried out book signings at The Engine House Visitor Centre over the weekend.
Lewis Maddox, the SVR’s events co-ordinator, said: “Despite the rain over the duration of the Gala, our platforms and trains were busy with passengers who had braved the weather to come and enjoy this really special celebration of steam.
“A very popular and photogenic visiting line-up certainly helped to draw the crowds, and we’re sure that passengers were able to capture some great shots of these striking engines in action.”
The Railway is now busy preparing for its October half-term schedule, including the popular Ghost Trains, running on 27th, 30th and 31st October.
