THE Ledbury Charity Fireworks Bonanza is on course to become the single largest one day event on Ledbury's calendar, overtaking even the Carnival when it comes down to crowd numbers.

Last year, the Fireworks Bonanza attracted around 5,000 people to the Hazle Meadows venue, off the Ross Road.

But organiser James Pugh said this week: "I'd like to improve. We like to have something to aim for!"

And now all the stops of being pulled out to make the third Fireworks Bonanza "the biggest and the best so far".

Mr Pugh said: "There will be plenty of parking, so come and enjoy the fun and games."

A big bonfire celebration requires a big bonfire, and already five deliveries of pallets have been made to Hazle Meadows, by fully-laden articulated lorries.

Mr Pugh said: "We've started early!"

This year, attractions on Saturday November 10 will include two firework displays; live music with the popular local band, Frontrunner, who will keep playing during the displays; hot food, a bar, and rides with Roger's fun fair.

Frontrunner have already won many fans this year, thanks to their well-received performances at Ledbury Carnival.

There will also be competition, with prizes on offer, for the best Guy.

Mr Pugh said: "This is open to all ages. Nurseries, schools, clubs and organisations will all be welcome to enter."

Mr Pugh is keen for tickets for the Firework Bonanza to be bought in advance, so that numbers can be gauged more easily.

Advance tickets will be discounted, at £7 for an adult, and concession tickets for children twelve and under, OAPS and the disabled at £5 each.

On the gate, an adult ticket will be £10 and a concession ticket will be £7.

A family ticket in advance will be £25, and on the gate it will be £35.

Tickets should be on sale by the end of this week at venues including Pugh's Offices, LDA Meats, Cameron and Swan and the Number One Sandwich Shop.

Charities and good causes to benefit will include the Rotary Club, Ledbury Carnival, Ledbury Rotary, Ledbury Christmas Lights and the Fire Brigade.

Gates to the Ledbury Charity Fireworks Bonanza on November 10 will open at 4pm on the day.

Ledbury Rotary will be helping with the marshalling.

The bonfire will be lit at 6pm.

The firework displays will be at 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
