SPECIAL arrangements have been put in place so Bromsgrove residents, groups and organisations can safely mark Remembrance Sunday.

In the run up to Remembrance Sunday (November 8), representatives will take photos of themselves laying wreaths at the town centre’s memorial, at scheduled and staggered times.

These will then be shown during a service at St John’s Church in a ticketed event which will be live streamed on social media to reach out to a virtual congregation, gathered safely at home.

Rev Ray Khan, of St John’s Church, said: “As always we want to come together and worship, not least on Remembrance Sunday, but we do not need to physically be together to show our respects to our service men and women, past and present.

“The emphasis this year is to pay our respects and remember safely and through the wonders of technology we can make this possible.”

The Council will also display the montage from the town centre on its website and other groups and organisations from across the District are invited to take photographs of wreath-laying which the authority will also provide links to.

Council Leader Karen May said: “We will never forget our heroes and want them to be remembered throughout our District – but we want to deter people from gathering in groups of more than six people.

“These arrangements mean that people can take part in Remembrance Sunday this year, albeit with a difference, but still come together as a community. I hope everyone takes advantage of this.”

If you are interested in having your organisation’s wreath-laying included in the montage please email media@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk.

The links will be available on bromsgrove.gov.uk/remembrance.

Photos, along with details of who is laying the wreath, and the organisation, need to be included and must be sent to the team by November 4.
