A BANNER to commemorate the centenary year of Girlguiding UK will be displayed at a prominent town roundabout as part of the celebrations Droitwich Spa Town Council has given permission for Droitwich Trefoil Guild group to display a banner adjacent to the Highfield Roundabout, and the flower tubs at the same site have been filled with flowers in the centenary colours. The flowers have been generously sponsored by David’s Nurseries.
Centenary celebrations started for all members of Girlguiding UK in September 2009 and Droitwich girls had a party at Hanbury Hall. The Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members have all experienced special events throughout the year and the celebrations will finish on October 20 with all members renewing their Guide promise at a ceremony in Lido Park.
Trefoil Guild members are adults who have an interest in guiding but are not able to commit to a regular weekly meeting. Many but not all of them have been adult leaders for Rainbows, Guides or Brownies and continue to help at various events for young people. New members are always welcome and anyone interested should contact Margaret Harle on 01905 776923.
