A MALE motorist is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after leaving the road and colliding with a tree in the early hours of Wednesday morning (September 24).

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene when a silver Audi A6 estate car left the A449 near the turning for Madresfield shortly before 1am.

Firefighters had to cut the driver free from the vehicle, and he was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. There were no passengers in the car, and no other vehicle was involved.

Police said the man remained in a critical but stable condition yesterday (Thursday). They added that he was believed to be from the local area, and that his car had been travelling from the Newland direction at the time of the crash.
