A POORLY timed planned power cut in a village near Worcester which had caused complaints has been rescheduled.

Homes and businesses in Ombersley were due to have no electricity between on May 8 between 6.30pm and 8.30pm for regular maintenance.

The Cross Keys pub was one of the 85 properties due to be affected by the power cut calling it "inconsiderate stupidity".

However, National Grid said it was now rescheduling the work to a more convenient time.

A Facebook post from The Cross Keys said: "Effectively National Grid have decided the best time to do an hour's worth of work that requires a complete loss of supply for approximately 85 properties to check a transformer is 6.30pm till 8.30pm on Wednesday, May 8.

"The inevitable consequence of this inconsiderate stupidity is that unfortunately the pub will have to close after lunch service on that date.

"The only suggestion they could give was to purchase a generator because of course and I quote ‘we do not guarantee your electric supply.’"

A National Grid spokesperson said: "We have cancelled the planned work at Ombersley and will reschedule it for a more convenient time for all customers.

"Letter confirming this are being sent to customers today, April 25."
