TOWN centre traffic was disrupted several times this week as roadworks were carried out in Church Street.
Police officers were called in to direct traffic for a while on Wednesday after temporary traffic lights at the Graham Road/Grange Road junction stopped working.
At some times of day, drivers reported taking 20 minutes to get through the town centre, but at others, traffic flowed smoothly.
Today (Thursday) the top part of Church Street leading to Worcester Road was coned off entirely. so drivers had to go past the post office to reach the main road.
The roadworks are being carried out by Severn Trent Water and are expected to last until the end of March.
The work is renewal of mains water supply pipes under Church Street to reduce the incidence of leaks of fresh water.
Severn Trent spokesman Kate Cox said traffic lights would be used in different parts of Church Street as the work progresses.
