THERE are now no areas of Worcester in the highest category on the government's Covid hotspots map after cases of the virus dropped throughout the city.

Worcester’s overall infection rate was at 1,070.2 per 100,000 with 1,073 cases recorded in the seven days to January 15, latest figures from Public Health England (PHE) show.

In comparison, after the highly-infectious Omicron variant of Covid-19 became the dominant strain, the case rate was at 1,554.9 per 100,000 with 1,559 cases recorded in the seven days to January 6.

The last area to drop out of the highest category - where case rates are more than 1,600 cases per 100,000 people and coloured black on the map - was Lower Wick and Bromwich Road.

That area, which covers WR2 postcodes and includes sections of Bransford Road and Malvern Road, had an infection rate of 1,443.2 per 100,000 people, with 117 cases.

It means all areas of the city are now in the second highest category, which is where areas above 800 cases per 100,000 people and coloured dark purple hotspot on the coronavirus map.

Current infection rates are:

Battenhall and Diglis, which covers WR5 postcodes including Battenhall Road, London Road and Spetchley Road, with an infection rate of 1,250.6 per 100,000 and 105 cases that week.

St Peters, which cover WR6 and WR5 postcodes including St Peter's Drive and Otter Walk, with an infection rate of 1,129.9 per 100,000 and 60 cases.

Dines Green and St Johns, which covers covers WR2 postcodes including Tybridge Street and Tudor Way, with an infection rate of 1,144.7 per 100,000 and 100 cases.

Henwick, which covers WR2 postcodes including Hylton Road and Hallow Road, with an infection rate of 830.8 per 100,000, with 46 cases.

Northwick, which covers WR2 postcodes including Hylton Road and Hallow Road, with an infection rate of 1,060.2 per 100,000, with 85 cases.

Warndon West, which covers WR4 postcodes including Cranham Drive, Chatcombe Drive and Landgale Drive, with an infection rate of 978.0 per 100,000, with 53 cases.

King George’s Field, which covers which covers WR3 and WR4 postcodes including parts of Tolladine Road, Brickfields Road and Blackpole Road, with an infection rate of 1,244.5 per 100,000 with 111 cases.

Worcester Town South, which covers the city centre towards Worcester Cathedral as well as Sidbury, with an infection rate of 824.4 per 100,000 with 61 cases.

Worcester Town North, which covers WR1 postcodes that include the city centre including Castle Street, The Tything and Foregate Street, with an infection rate of 937.5 per 100,000 with 72 cases.

Ronkswood and Nunnery Wood, which covers WR5 postcodes including Newtown Road, Wildwood Drive and Silverdale Avenue, with an infection rate of 1,002.0 per 100,000 with 65 cases.

Lyppard Grange, which covers WR4 postcodes including Millwood Drive and Trotshill Way, with an infection rate of 926.1 per 100,000 with 55 cases.

Warndon East, which covers many WR3 and WR4 postcodes including Blackpole Road and Berkeley Way, with an infection rate of 954.2 per 100,000 with 60 cases.
