THERE were no new Covid-related deaths recorded at Worcestershire's hospitals today – the day the lowest national Monday toll for four months was announced.

The latest NHS England daily figures (Monday, March 1) mean the number of deaths recorded in the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust remains at 764 and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust’s total stays at 61.

A further 127 people who tested positive for coronavirus died in hospital in England, bringing to 83,250 the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals.

Patients were aged between 46 and 99 and all bar one, who was aged 58, had a known underlying health condition.

The deaths were between December 9 and February 28, with the majority being on or after February 24.

There were 16 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

But out of the tragedy comes hope with lockdown continuing to work on infection rates and the death toll with fewer people lost to the virus.

Last week (February 22), the tally was 191, 24 per cent down on the 251 reported the week before (February 15).

The tolls announced on previous Mondays were 342 on February 8, 394 on February 1, 653 on January 25, and 571 on January 18.

Yesterday (Sunday), the death toll in Britain rose by 178 which was also the lowest Sunday rise in more than two months.

In total, there have been 825 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals and at least 1,264 in a The Acute Hospitals Trust covers Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.

The Health and Care NHS trust covers community hospitals and rehabilitation wards, including Worcester City Impatient Unit, Malvern Community Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital, Pershore Community Hospital, the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, Tenbury Community Hospital and the Wyre Forest Ward.
