SCHOOLCHILDREN in Droitwich have been spreading a little Christmas cheer for residents of a care home.

The pupils of Westlands First School and Nursery recently wrote to the residents of Ravenstone Care Home.

The letters and drawings were carefully made by the youngsters of the Farmers Way school, and arrived at the start of December as the festive season got underway.

Residents were thrilled at the early Christmas present, and wanted to thank the children for their efforts.

Audrey Prince, 90, said: “I would like to say thank you to the children of Westlands First School and Nursery for the lovely letters they sent to us all, they have really cheered us up.

“We often have local children visit the home which is lovely, and we have missed it very much while we’ve not been able to see them.

“I hope all the children have a lovely Christmas.”

Mary Day, 85, added: “It was really nice to receive a letter from the children, I felt very special.

“It was very kind of them and I hope Santa brings the children everything they wish for.”

Jay Bluik, activities co-ordinator at the St Andrews Road-based care home, said: “We received these wonderful letters - thank you very much for them they are wonderful.

“The residents appeared to very much appreciate them.

“We thank the school and children greatly.

“A big thank you to Ravenstone’s Sarah Moore, also, for helping organising this.”
