ANOTHER whistle-blower has come forward with concerns over working conditions at Royal Mail’s Malvern delivery office.

The image, right, is taken from video footage captured by the employee on October 2, 2020, following another whistle-blower contacting the paper to claim staff are not being protected properly from Covid-19.

The 45-second video clip provided by the employee, who does not want to be named, shows some staff members in uniform standing close together and not wearing a mask while others appear to be socially distanced and wearing protection.

Royal Mail confirmed earlier this month eight staff members had tested positive for coronavirus at the delivery office in Abbey Road, Malvern and were isolating at home.

It said several “intensive cleans” have been carried out and “we are continuing to ensure personal protective equipment is available to all who want it.”

The latest whistle-blower said: "No temperature checks are being carried out, no hand sanitiser is available, and staff are not wearing masks, and there is no social distancing at all.” Responding to these latest claims, a spokesman for Royal Mail said: “Throughout this crisis, every decision we make puts the health of our people and customers first. We have a range of preventive measures in place to protect both our customers and our colleagues.

“As well as encouraging good hand hygiene, standard ways of working have been revised to ensure that colleagues maintain distancing.”

The spokesman said there are currently no positive cases and the isolated workers are back at work.
