TWO Worcestershire schools have had a confirmed case of coronavirus and have sent pupils home to self-isolate.

Thirty-nine year 10 pupils of The Chantry School, in Martley, are currently self-isolating and being provided with remote learning.

Headteacher Andrew Dickenson told parents on Saturday as soon as they had learnt about the confirmed case.

Mr Dickenson said: “After discussion with Public Health, 39 Y10 pupils are currently self-isolating and being provided with remote learning.

“We have all of the current DfE guidance for the full reopening of schools in place.”

Meanwhile, Broadheath CE Primary School contacted parents to confirm a coronavirus case at the school.

The school said in a letter to parents on October 9: “We have been advised by Public Health that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

“We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health.

“This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide you with advice on how to support your child.

“Please be reassured that for most people, Covid-19 will be a mild illness. The school remains open and providing your child remains well they can continue to attend school as normal. We will keep this under review.”

Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: “An individual from Broadheath C of E Primary School has tested positive for COVID19.

“This case was quickly identified, and the school is being supported by Public Health.

"Additional measures have been put in place to protect the school and help minimise any further disruption. Close contacts have been identified and traced, they are now also self-isolating for 14 days in line with guidance and will continue their learning through home access learning.”
