WORCESTER University has offered to host a 'mass vaccination site' in the city when it is available.

We recently reported how a new Covid testing station will soon be in place at the university arena car park in Hylton Road and should be operational by Monday, November 2.

An existing drive-through test centre is currently in place at County Hall, however Worcester residents have complained about being unable to get a coronavirus test from County Hall due to their lack of transport.

Ross Renton, Senior Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Worcester, said: “The University has been working with Public Health colleagues and the authorities responsible for the testing centres for some time to establish a Covid-19 test centre in the City centre, which can be accessed on foot by members of the local community, including students and staff.

“We believe it is important this vital service is open to all members of the community, particularly those who don’t have access to transport or with disabilities.

“We have offered to host the centre, rent-free, alongside the University of Worcester Arena.

“We have also offered to help further by hosting, when available, a mass vaccination site in the City.”
