SPORTS items to bring back the memories for West Midlands soccer, cricket and speedway fans are up for auction.

A hand-sewn leather lace-up ball signed by some of the greats of the past is set to fetch hundreds of pounds, while there are many other items valued at more affordable prices.

The items are up for grabs at a two-day event being staged by West Bromwich-based Midland Sports Auctions on October 11 and 12th.

More than 2,500 lots are up for grabs with a fair number concerning local sporting clubs.

Albion fans have the chance to bid on many items, including the vintage football signed by legends like Ray Wilson, Bobby Hope, John Osborne, Graham Williams, Allan Glover and Asa Hartford.

For Aston Villa fans there is a bound volume of 1937/38 programmes plus a number of 1930's Annuals.

Pre-war Wolves items are included and expected to be in great demand, including a postcard-size picture of the 1947-48 team (with pin holes!)

A very rare 1924/25 Birmingham League football programme featuring Shrewsbury v Stourbridge is also included.

Speedway programmes, photographs and badges are plentiful with a fair number from the Cradley Heathens. Cricket including Warwickshire and Worcestershire memorabilia are also covered.

One of the more quirkier items is a 1907 Railway handbill advertising Aston Villa and Birmingham matches.
