Dorset Council has thanked the public for showing consideration over the bank holiday weekend.
It said a 'good number' of people visited the area's beaches but they weren't as busy as expected.
However they did have issues with overnight campers and use of barbecues in 'inappropriate' places. 62 vehicles were ticketed by 8am Monday morning for illegally camping overnight.
A spokesman said: “It wasn’t as busy as we expected but on the whole people were socially distancing and being courteous to each other. Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Swanage and West Bay were all manageable. We want to thank everyone for being considerate. There were issues at Lulworth and Durdle Door.
“Over the whole weekend traffic was 42 per cent lower than the same bank holiday last year.
“The main issues were overnight campers and the use of disposable BBQs being used at inappropriate places and being left unattended. Our Civil Enforcement Officers had ticketed 62 vehicles before 8am on Monday morning, who had illegally camped overnight. DWFRS tweeted they had attended 18 fires across Dorset and have asked people to stop having BBQs and bonfires in the open.
“We will continue to work with partner agencies to ensure the Government’s guidelines are followed.”
