ALL Wrexham Council operated car parks within the town centre will be free until December 24.

The motive behind the free parking incentive is to try and encourage more shoppers to visit the town during the build up to Christmas.

The incentive commenced on December 7, and will provide free parking for shoppers every day of the week from 10am only.

Traders within the town centre have supported the idea and are hopeful that it will increase footfall within the town during the build up to Christmas.

One trader, Matt McHale of La Baguette, added: “We have the Christmas Village later this month, so we hope the town takes advantage of the free parking for that and during the rest of the month also.”

Another trader, Daphne Roberts of Abode Above, said: “The lights put up by this council this Christmas are magical.

“We at Central Arcade have added our Christmas lights to the globes, they look wonderful, many shoppers have told me how lovely they look.

“Why not pop down to see them?”

Town Centre Forum chair, Wayne Price of AMP Accounting, said: “During Christmas, the town centre is open for business.

“We have free parking and Wrexham is really lucky to have so many independents of many shapes and sizes that Christmas shoppers can find something special for their loved ones.”

A spokesman for Wrexham Council, said: “We’re very pleased to be making this offer.

“We also have some excellent events lined up for the Christmas period and we are keen to ensure that visitors have a great experience, and that traders are able to capitalise on the added footfall that events such as these bring.”
