HUNDREDS of students from Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School have celebrated the re-opening of their school library.

Celebrations at the Latchford-based school kicked off with a series of workshops led by published writer, Rob Parker.

Rob, who is from Warrington and the author of the Ben Bracken series of novels, gave his time freely to inspire the next generation of writers.

He told pupils: "You can be anything you want be in the world of writing.

"You just have to be yourself and be brave."

Students' enjoyed the workshops with one pupil saying: "Rob's message of never giving up on your dreams will stay with us."

Jane Woodcock, an English teacher at Sir Thomas Boteler, explained: "Learning from real-world writers at such a young age is truly inspirational.

"We plan for our students at Sir Thomas Boteler to experience further writing workshops throughout the academic year, both with Rob, and also fellow writer Emily Chriscoli as part of our school's relentless focus on literacy."
