POLICE searching for a missing Darwen man have found a body.
Officers launched an urgent appeal to find 50-year-old Peter Eddleston on Friday night.
Mr Eddleston was last seen around 4.30pm that day in the Redvers Road area of the town.
After after extensive searches officers found a man's body close to Bog Height Road in Darwen yesterday.
Police said that while no formal identification has taken place they believe the body to be that of Mr Mr Eddleston.
His family have been informed of the situation and are being supported by officers.
Mr Eddleston's death is not being treated as suspicious and nobody has been arrested in connection with the discovery of his body.
A police spokesman said: "While formal identification has yet to be carried out the body is believed to be that of Mr Eddleston.
"His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.
"We would like to thank everyone who assisted during the search for Peter."
