POLICE hunting a man who ‘bought’ a £10,000 Rolex watch with a cheque which then bounced have released an image of a man they would like to speak to.
The victim, a man in his 30s, agreed to sell the watch after advertising it on Gumtree.
It appeared that the buyer had transferred the funds into the victim’s bank account.
But the following day the funds were withdrawn. A cheque had been paid in, but had bounced as it was on a business account that had closed in December 2018.
The victim has been unable to contact the buyer since the incident took place on Tuesday, October 8.
PC Michelle Yarrow, of Dorset Police, said: “This incident has left the victim significantly out of pocket.
“I am issuing an image of a man who attended to collect the watch."
