THROUGHOUT this year we will be dipping into the wedding albums of Warrington couples who have tied the knot and finding out more about the happiest day of their life.

NAMES: Richard Nash and Kellie Ashley

AGES: Richard turned 40 a week after the wedding and Kellie is 36

LIVES: Westbrook

Where did you meet?

Online via a dating website in 2012

What did you think when you first met?

We both thought we were batting out of our fields.

We had similar morals and hit it off straight away. After months of dating we made it official

How did he propose?

Richard proposed to me in Singapore in 2018 on our way to his sister's wedding in New Zealand.

He proposed in the roof top pool of the Marina Sands Bay.

He tied the engagement ring to his swim shorts and proposed as we looked out over a night-lit Singapore

The wedding day:

We got married at Ladies Pavilion in Central Park in New York City and had a reception on the river Hudson as we enjoyed a river cruise.

Our wedding was really personal as we wrote our own vows and had our closest friends with us.

There were 11 of us in total including my son Joseph who gave me away.

Our friends are friends from both of our childhoods who we have been close with all our lives and they joined us in NYC for the week.

We had a five-course meal on the river Hudson, we ate cheese and ham sandwiches that I’d made as we enjoyed our limo-driven photo tour for the wedding photos, followed by nachos and loaded fries in a bowling ally as we passed an hour waiting for our river cruise to board.

Warrington Guardian:

What are your favourite memories of the day?

It has to be the vows.

It was so emotional and funny and my friend Jenny was bawling her eyes out through the whole thing.

I had to strip out of my wedding dress in public toilets in Central Park as I couldn’t fit into a cubical with it on.

Did you go on a honeymoon?

We went to Egypt. It was our first choice holiday destination as we wanted somewhere hot, sun and a totally relaxing week

Warrington Guardian:

Our relationship:

Morals, family values, value friendships, honesty, trust and the ability to have fun and be silly are just some of the things we have got in common.

We even played knock-a-door run on our honeymoon!

We don’t take life too seriously and we give each other the space to enjoy doing the things we love with the people we love whilst remembering to put each other first.

We get over disagreements quick and enjoy camping and adventures.
