A DOITWICH man was left paying the price for drunken violence against a woman in front of her children.

Simon Edwards, aged 30 of Hipkiss Gardens, was given a 26 week jail term suspended for 12 months after he admitted an assault causing actual bodily harm.

Edwards, who committed the assault after he had been drinking, was further ordered to pay costs of £185 and a victim surcharge of £122 in relation to the assault.

He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation after he admitted damaging a door at the victim's home and given a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim, from whom he is now separated.

He was also banned from driving for 24 months and fined £400 after he admitted drink driving on the same day as the assault.

Worcestershire magistrates gave Edwards suspended the jail term because had no previous convictions for similar offences and he is willing to work with probation services.

Also before Worcester magistrates:

Lee Price, aged 29, of no fixed address, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £135 costs and a victim surcharge of £32 after he admitted assault by beating.

He was further given a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal damage.

Charlotte Rowley, aged 23, of Bays Meadow, Droitwich, was fined £220 and ordered to pay £160 costs, a £30 victim surcharge and £8.30 compensation for attempting to travel on a train without a ticket.
