AS more details emerge about the plans for the proposed new McDonald's the objecting voices seem to only get louder.

The latest to have their say is Kate Brunt, chief executive of the trust behind a new school which will be a short distance from the site.

In today's story she points out that the plans appear to not be in line with the sports facilities in the area, describing the possible outlet as "wholly inappropriate" and saying it would have an impact on the character of the area.

There are two sides to this debate of course. On the one hand a fast food outlet being built near a school seems to send the wrong message as we fight the obesity crisis.

But on the other, as McDonald's point out, this is a big name investing and creating new jobs for residents. And of course it is always people's choice whether to go into a fast food restaurant.

Whichever side you sit, the consultation is open to submit your views to the city council's planning department.

Ultimately it will be for them to decide on whether McDonald's gets a fourth city outlet.
