TWO careless drivers have been jailed following a crash which killed a cyclist.

Balvinder Sangha, aged 46 of Romsley, Halesowen and Emily Wilkinson, aged 21 of Hagley, Stourbridge, both appeared at Worcester Crown Court yesterday.

At around 7.40am on June 15 last year a crash occurred between a silver Vauxhall Corsa, a silver Ford Transit and a cyclist on Bromsgrove Road, Romsley.

The cyclist, David "Ross" Fawthrop, aged 59 of Barnt Green, died at the scene.

Sangha, who was the driver of the Transit van, and Wilkinson, the driver of the Corsa, were both located at the scene. They were later charged for causing death by careless driving.

Following an eight day trial at Worcester Crown Court, both defendants were jailed yesterday.

Sangha was sentenced to twelve months in prison with a three year driving disqualification, and Wilkinson was sentenced to six months in prison with a two year driving disqualification.

Investigating officer, PC Dan Barker from West Mercia Police, said: "This was a tragic incident to investigate, and our thoughts go out to David's family at this time.

"West Mercia Police is committed to improving road safety and keeping the roads safe for everyone, and we will investigate those who drive without the due care and attention required, to ensure that every effort is made to bring offenders to justice."
