THE leader of Dudley Council has called on Ian Austin to stand in a by-election after the MP became the ninth MP to quit the Labour Party.

Councillor Qada Zada said he was 'extremely disappointed' with Mr Austin's decision and called for him to stand in a by-election.

He said: "We don't know what he now represents. He has let the people down."

The Dudley North MP announced he has quit the party in protest against Jeremy Corbyn's leadership and the party's handling of anti-Semitism.

A MOTORCYCLIST from Kidderminster 'looked both ways' before he pulled out of a junction into the path of an oncoming car and died, an inquest has heard.

Mechanical welder Oliver Rowles died at the scene of a crash between his Generic motorbike and a car at the junction of the A449 and Castle Road near Cookley on November 5 last year.

The 22-year-old was on his way home from work at Titan Steel Wheels in Cookley when he was struck by the Peugeot 207, causing him to be thrown from his bike, over the top of the car and into the road.

HUNDREDS of people turned out to the pay their respects to popular Halesowen hairdresser Stuart Roe today (February 22).

Mourners packed into Rowley Regis Crematorium on Powke Lane to say goodbye to Stuart, who was fatally stabbed in Rowley Regis two months ago.

The service was also broadcast to people standing outside, due to the high number of mourners in attendance.

A LASER has been installed at Redditch’s Arrow Valley Lake to protect thousands of new fish that were recently dropped into the lake.

Along with the Angling Trust and the Environment Agency, Redditch Council has provided grants to Redditch Federation of Anglers to stop predator birds eating the fishes.

Over the last few years the stock of fish at the lake has been dwindling because of predation by Cormorants, an aquatic bird.
