Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is proud to sponsor the Worcestershire Education Awards 2019. Each year, the awards provide a fantastic display of Worcestershire’s exceptional skills network which is committed to helping our younger generations to learn and achieve their ambitions.

By working in a partnership approach, Worcestershire LEP is responsible for creating and delivering economic growth and jobs in the county, with targets of creating 25,000 jobs and increasing Gross Value Added (GVA) by £2.9bn. Raising the skills agenda of Worcestershire’s local workforce is a vital part of achieving these targets.

The government has allocated Worcestershire LEP with a total of £71.71m of Growth Deal funds between 2015 and 2021 for agreed economic projects to ensure that the county is a world class place to work, invest and grow a business. As part of this, Worcestershire LEP has invested in skills related projects, including the recent opening of the manufacturing facility at Evesham College and the Centre of Digital Excellence at Heart of Worcestershire College.

Worcestershire LEP is also working in partnership with businesses, education and partner organisations as part of the campaign for ‘Creating our Future Workforce.’

The campaign is supporting businesses of all sizes to get involved with developing Worcestershire’s skilled workforce of the future, by supporting educational establishments to provide up-to-date careers-based information and support.

Businesses can help to further support the learning of younger generations through a variety of ways such as, providing assembly talks at schools, supporting young people with mock interviews & CV workshops and offering a young person a work experience or internship opportunity.
