SLEET and snow are on the way to York and North Yorkshire.
Forecasters are predicting light snow and strong winds for a time on Saturday morning, as a front moves in from the west.
The snow is expected to fall mainly on higher ground and turn to rain later.
There is also a chance of wintry showers on the hills on Thursday and Friday, in a brisk and chilly south-easterly wind.
Despite the wintry weather in the next few days, forecasters think there is little chance of a white Christmas in York, with wet, windy and mild weather being much more likely according to the latest projections.
