AN extra £240m is being invested into the adult social care system, but Worcestershire County Council says it isn't enough to meet the current long-term demand.
At Tuesday's Conservative Party conference, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the cash would ease pressure on the NHS this winter and stave off crisis in the sector.
Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for adult social care Cllr Adrian Hardman said the investment was "a start", but stressed that more is needed.
He said: "The announcement is a start of sorts in addressing the need to meet the increasing demands on Adult Social Care nationally but this acknowledgement is only the beginning of tackling this national issue.
"Supporting everyone to achieve their full potential and to make the most of all opportunities, no matter their age is something that is extremely important to us here in Worcestershire.
"The passion and dedication of our staff, is a great reminder as to why this service needs to be continually funded."
More than 40 per cent of the county council's annual net budget is allocated to adult social care, providing support for 6,360 people in Worcestershire.
