NEW Mars discoveries are advancing the case for possible life on the red planet, past or even present.

Scientists reported on Thursday that Nasa’s Curiosity rover has found potential building blocks of life in an ancient Martian lakebed.

Hints have been found before, but this is the best evidence yet.

A HUSBAND stabbed his wife to death at their home in Stoke Prior after taking part in a drinking game on New Year's Eve, a court has heard.

David Clark, who denies the murder of 44-year-old Melanie Clark, allegedly dialled the emergency services nine minutes before midnight and told the operator: "I am sorry. I have killed my wife."

A jury at Birmingham Crown Court heard the victim was found dead at the couple's home in Cloverdale in the early hours of January 1.

LOUIS Walsh has decided to leave The X Factor as the show ushers in a “new era”, it has been announced.

The TV star has been the longest-serving judge on the talent show, appearing on all bar one series since the show began in 2004.

He will continue to serve as head judge on Ireland’s Got Talent, production company Thames confirmed.
