FORMER Worcester Wolves forward Jamal Williams has suffered a season-ending injury at London Lions in a freak accident.

The 30-year-old severed a nerve in his arm and after immediate surgery is now recuperating.

Doctors have said depending on the next month of treatment 6ft 5in Williams could make a full recovery in eight to 12 months.

He helped Wolves win the BBL Trophy in 2014 by scoring 26 points and claiming the most valuable player award in an 83-76 defeat of Glasgow Rocks.

“I am devastated for Jamal,” said Lions’ chief executive Vince Macaulay.

“He has been a heartbeat for our team. We have all rallied around and will support Jamal as best we can. He is in good hands and in good spirits.”

Head coach Nigel Lloyd said: “ We can’t wait to have Jamal back to full fitness and we wish him all the best for his recovery. He is a huge part of our team.”

Wolves have no game this weekend but return to action on Friday, December 16, in the league against Bristol Flyers at the University of Worcester Arena (7.30pm).

Paul James' side thrashed basement boys Flyers 88-56 at home last Friday for a second consecutive victory after four defeats in a row.
