GEORGE Rhodes top-scored for Onslow CC who overpowered Petone-Eastbourne CC by 109 runs to maintain their 100 per cent record in the Ewen Chatfield Trophy.

The Worcestershire all-rounder went in at number four and scored 87 off 95 balls with one six and 12 fours.

Rhodes came in at 89-2 in the 16th over and was fifth out at 276 in the 48th after sharing in a fifth wicket stand of 131 with Onslow keeper B. Shields (64).

It enabled Onslow to post a formidable 305-7 in their 50 overs.

Rhodes then bowled seven tidy overs for 24 runs and picked up two catches as Petone-Eastbourne were bowled out for 196 in 45.3 overs.

County paceman Charlie Morris bowled an accurate spell and then did his job as nightwatchman to help Tuggeranong Valley take the honours on day one of their McDonald’s ACT Premier Cricket first grade encounter with ANU.

Morris finished with figures of 17-4-38-1 as ANU were bowled out for 216 in 78.1 overs.

He then went in first wicket down and finished nought not out from 13 deliveries as Tuggeranong closed on 37-1 from nine overs. The match will be concluded next weekend.

Opener Ollie Westbury was dismissed for seven off 22 balls but his side, Scarborough, totalled 256 all out in a Western Australia Cricket Association first grade match with Joondalup.

Joondalup replied with 41-0 in another match which will be completed next Saturday.

In a grade two match, Josh Dell enjoyed a successful day with the ball for Midland-Guildford against University.

He returned 16-8-27-4 as University were bowled out for 193 in 74.2 overs.

Dell then completed a successful day by making an unbeaten 13 as Midland-Guildford closed day one on 27-1.
