MOEEN Ali made 44 before becoming one of Ravindra Jadeja's seven victims as England lost the final Test to India by an innings and 75 runs in Chennai.

The Worcestershire all-rounder was looking to follow up his first innings century with another substantial contribution as England attempted to save the game on the fifth day.

But the 29-year-old suffered a tame end to his knock when he holed out to Ravichandran Ashwin at mid on.

Moeen put on 63 with Ben Stokes (23) before he was fifth out at 192 and England lost their six wickets for 15 runs as they were bowled out for 207.

He struck four fours in his 97 ball knock after again batting at number four.

Moeen's first boundary came from his 58th delivery - through cover point off paceman Umesh Yadav.

He collected two fours in an over from Ashwin via a sweep and through the covers and also lofted Amit Mishra to the ropes.

Moeen was dropped at short leg off Jadeja on 42 but added only two more runs before falling to the same bowler who ended with figures of 7-48.

England will now fly home for the festive season but Moeen will return to India in the New Year for the one-day series with India.
