WORCESTERSHIRE paceman Josh Tongue impressed on the second day of England Under-19s warm-up fixture with the Unicorns at Loughborough which ended in a draw.

Tongue staked a claim to be involved in the opening Test against Sri Lanka Under-19s at Fenners starting on July 26.

He returned figures of 3-4 from five overs to give him overall figures of 3-11 from 10 overs as the Unicorns, who resumed on 43-3 in reply to England Under-19s 297, were forced to follow on.

Tongue trapped opener Sam Kelsall (33) lbw, held onto a return catch to dismiss Unicorns skipper Chris Whittock (9) and bowled Michael Kyle-Pepper (11).

His County team-mate, spinner Ben Twohig, also picked up the wicket of Josh Bowers (26) lbw in a spell of 4-1-9-1 as Unicorns were dismissed for 107 in 40.4 overs.

The Under-19s found wickets harder to come by when the Unicorns followed on and a century from Sam Arthurton enabled them to close on 237-5 from 63 overs.

Tongue had figures of 5-0-25-0 but Twohig bowled a tidy spell of 14-2-31-1 and dismissed Jonathon Webb who was caught by his Worcestershire colleague Ollie Westbury for 18.

England Under-19s will play two Tests and three ODIS against the Sri Lankans.
