WORCESTERSHIRE seconds openers George Rhodes and Ollie Westbury figured in a century stand as the Second Eleven Championship match with Derbyshire at the 3aaa County Ground ended in a draw.

Derbyshire, who resumed on 22-0 in their second innings, declared on 227-4 and set Worcestershire a target of 335 in what became 51 overs.

Skipper Rhodes, who earlier this week signed a new two year contract, and Academy player Westbury gave the seconds a fine start to their reply.

They put on 136 in 26 overs before Rhodes was dismissed for 68 off 78 balls with one six and 10 fours.

Westbury was eventually third out at 181 for 83 off 106 deliveries with seven fours.

Worcestershire reached 225-3 at one stage, with Alex Hepburn making a rapid 43 off 27 balls with three sixes and four fours.

But then five wickets fell for 13 runs and the ninth wicket pair of Josh Tongue and Chris Russell played out the final three overs as Worcestershire closed on 242-8.

Wes Durston finished with 5-75 for Derbyshire and he had earlier top-scored with 64 before the declaration.

Russell picked up two wickets and there were one apiece for Hepburn and Ben Twohig.
