SPINNER Brett D’Oliveira and paceman Chris Russell have been added to the Worcestershire squad as they bid to clinch the LV= County Championship Division Two title against Essex at Chelmsford starting tomorrow (10.30am).

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes will be forced to make one change from the side which overcame Surrey at New Road nine days ago to seal promotion to Division One.

New Zealand paceman Mitchell McClenaghan has returned home following the death of his father.

Russell played in the opening Championship match of the season against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl but since then has been restricted to white-ball cricket.

D’Oliveira was part of the side which reached the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast. He has also been in good form for the seconds XI, scoring a century in the final match of the season against Hampshire at New Road.

Rhodes said: “Chris is coming into the squad. He bowled well in the nets so he will be itching to get an opportunity in the last game of the season. He is a squad bowler and there are times when you need these guys to come in and do a good job straight away.

“If he plays, this is the four days when we need a big effort from him.

“Brett would love to have a crack at things in the last game of the season. He’s had a good second team spell lately and is in good nick, bowling and batting well.

“If we decide to play two spinners, I’m pretty confident he will do a good job.”

Fellow spinner Shaaiq Choudhry has not been included in the 12 man squad.

Worcestershire need a maximum of six points to go up as champions.

Worcestershire (from): Mit-chell, Oliver, Moeen Ali, Fell, Kervezee, Kohler-Cadmore, Cox, Leach, D’Oliveira, Shantry, Morris, Russell.

Worcestershire’s bowlers will be trying to preserve a remarkable record at Chelmsford.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell’s side will be aiming to collect maximum bowling points for the 28th successive match.

The County achieved that feat in the last 12 matches of 2013 and all 15 to date during the current campaign.

No other county in either division has matched their efforts in 2014, which have to date yielded 45 points.

But promoted Worcestershire will be up against the current form side of Division Two in Essex who have won their last four matches.

They last won five matches in a row in 2002 when they triumphed in the last five games of that season to win Division Two.
