JOE Clarke warmed up for the new season with a Worcestershire ton against Oxford MCCU at The Parks.

The England Lions international, batting at number three, scored 119 off 176 deliveries with 15 fours.

Late hitting from Jack Shantry (45) and Ed Barnard (38 not out) helped the County, who won the toss, declare on 345-9 from 83.3 overs.

Brett D’Oliveira (3) was trapped lbw before Daryl Mitchell and Clarke added 55 for the second wicket.

Mitchell (41) was bowled and Alexei Kervezee fell for a golden duck. Tom Kohler-Cadmore added 19, Ross Whiteley 13 and Ben Cox 4.

Joe Leach was caught for 37 and Clarke bowled before Barnard and Shantry added 84 runs in 15.1 overs.

First-class debutant Josh Tongue took two wickets with Oxford on 22-2 at the close.
