WORCESTERSHIRE lost by six runs to Derbyshire in their pre-season trip to Abu Dhabi at the Zayed Stadium.

Derbyshire totalled 298-9 in 50 overs as Gareth Andrew picked up three wickets with two apiece for Charlie Morris and Ed Barnard and one for Chris Russell.

Chesney Hughes (112) and Alex Hughes (60) put on 117 for the fifth wicket.

The County were given a fine start in reply by Richard Oliver (63) and Daryl Mitchell (58) with 122 runs in 17 overs.

After Alexei Kervezee fell for a golden duck, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Brett D'Oliveira took the total past the 200 mark in the 34th over.

Wickets fell regularly but the result was in the balance until the final over when Russell was trapped lbw.
