A CIVIC reception will be held at The Guildhall for cricketers who made history by winning the T20 Blast.

The Rapids, Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s T20 team, roared to success after beating Lancashire and Sussex at Edgbaston to lift the trophy on the club’s maiden Finals Day appearance.

Mayor of Worcester Jabba Riaz will roll out the red carpet for the ceremony where fans will get the chance to see the silverware on the steps of the Guildhall, Worcester, from 8pm next Thursday.

There will be short speeches after which the players and invited guests will enter the Guildhall for a civic reception.

Councillor Riaz said: “This is a tremendous victory for cricket in the county; it is a historic moment for the Club and I am keen to formally recognise this and give people the opportunity to see the players and the trophy first hand.”

“Come along and join in the celebrations; there’s going to be a great atmosphere!”

The trophy will also be on display in the Guildhall foyer from 3pm to 7pm and from 8.15pm to 9.30pm on the same day.

Members of the public are welcome to come and view it during these times, and to come and meet members of the team.

Players not involved in the club’s final County Championship match of the season will be at the Guildhall in the afternoon with the rest scheduled to arrive at 8pm.
