WORCESTERSHIRE under 17s launch their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign against Hampshire at Stourport on Sunday.

They warmed up by defeating Nottinghamshire by one wicket in a 50-over friendly at Royal Grammar School Worcester.

Their other cup fixtures are against Somerset at Clevedon on May 27, Devon at Heathcoat on June 10 and Gloucestershire at RGS on June 17.

Xavier Clarke, younger brother of first-team ace Joe, scored a century against Notts as Worcestershire chased a 280 target.

The academy player scored 123 from 121 balls with two sixes and 14 fours.

He received support from skipper Jack Haynes (23) and Charlie Clist (34) before stands of 53 with Dan Meredith and 76 with Ben Fitzmaurice.

Clarke was seventh out in the 46th over on 253 with 27 still needed for victory.

Ryan Wheldon was run out from the third ball of the final over but Sam Flavell smashed the penultimate delivery to the boundary to seal victory on 283-9.

Notts were bowled out for 279 with Charlie Greening taking 3-47, Wheldon 2-47 and Matt Davis 2-49.
