THE Reverend Mike Vockins will be Worcestershire Cricket Society’s interim chairman while Bill Tansell continues to recover from a stroke.

The former Worcestershire secretary-CEO of 30 years' service is already the society president.

Vockins will take the chair to ask questions of the society’s guest speakers during their winter cricket evenings when his commitments allow.

He interviewed former Leicestershire player and Test umpire Barry Dudleston during October in the Graeme Hick Pavilion.

A society spokesman said: "Everyone wishes Bill, a well-known figure in local cricketing circles, a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back at New Road and lending his much-appreciated input into the cricket society sooner rather than later."
